Pearl Turowski - Fine Arts
"A DORMANT MEMORY OF PURE, CREATIVE FLUIDITY"
Pearl Turowski is a 19 year old artist and photographer from Portland, Oregon. In recent years, Pearl has investigated her "dormant memory of pure, creative fluidity", or, the innate creativity she believes all children to be born with and eventually conditioned out of. Through her works of portraiture and beyond, Pearl works to reawaken this state within herself, a practice that allows her to capture the rawness of human emotion and identity by way of charcoal, graphite, oil paint, digital photography, three-dimensional work, and more. No matter the medium, her raw and honest technique remains visible throughout her work.
During the summer of 2023, Pearl attended a month-long art intensive at New York University, a rigorous endeavor concluded with an exhibition at the University's Rosenburg Gallery in Manhattan, New York City. Pearl's work was also showcased at Splendorporium Gallery in Portland, Oregon in May 2023, and at the Women in Creative Industries (WICI) Winter Art Show at the University of Oregon in 2025. Pearl briefly attended the University of Oregon in pursuit of a dual Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Psychology. After being let down by the University's corporate-driven arts program, she was reminded of the importance of anger and challenge to artistic growth and realization. This prompted her transfer to Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, New York, from which she will graduate in 2028 with her BFA in Fine Arts.
